There are many reasons that a business project may slow down and not move forward as a manager imaged it would. There are easy ways to ensure that this does not happen. 1st you must explain clearly what it is you are asking your employees to do. Then fore each employee set up S.M.A.R.T. goals for them to reach and a for of reward when they have reacted them. S.M.A.R.T. Goals means that the goals are Specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and timely. This SMART way of setting goals makes the manager break down the project into manageable goals that make the employee not feel as if they are being rushed to get a project complete. When a person feels rushed the do not do their best. But if they have goals and will be rewarded at the end of each set goal it gives them incentive to do the job in a timely and good fashion.
After setting Goals for the employees project make sure that you as the manager is also involved. Stopping in on process made, and checking to see which goals were attained and if they were attained in the time you had discussed.
If there's a lot of steps in the project telling your employees or project team all the steps in the beginning may cause them to feel over whelmed. The best way to avoid that is to split the project in half, giving them the first have of their goals, then the second half after those have been completed. Remember to reward them in some way for the work that they have done. Many employees can feel under appreciated especially after working hard and not being recognized for that work. If they are not rewarded chances are that they will work only half as hard during the second half of the job.
It is important to rate employees and reward the ones that work hard and try to help the ones that have any problems. If you treat all employees the same, the ones that work hard will no longer work as hard as they did, because in their eyes it gets them nowhere to try. Treat employees with the respect that you would want if you were in that position. Make sure you do not treat them all the same, reward those who deserve to be rewarded and not those who slack off. my last advice to you is to have fun in the work place and make the environment a happy and homey one.
