DEPARTURE You smiled at me today through a shop window a far away fade of a smile It flickered flew away when the wind blew Separated by more than glass a window display of linen and lamps I brushed the traces off my crumpled coat and carried on * Later you left a letter in my mailbox I counted all the times you forgot to cross your T's Dot your I's Then I put it in the top cupboard in the corner of the kitchen

There is was so magically
Appearing as we met
Holding strong as we departed
Lighting up the time we shared
Exchanging Smiles.
They say a smile
is contagious -
I believe it is true.

sent a smile my
way

All of which have different faces
Smiles the universal sign and language
A real smile can light up a room
A fake one can give you the creeps
