There are a few reasons to not buy used shoes. Shoes in general are fairly inexpensive. Shoes can be purchased readily at different retail stores. Also, shoes are like other "articles" of clothing that a person normally would not share due to sanitary purposes or medical reasons.
Market research suggests shoes typically do not cost much to be manufactured (i.e, as little as $.25 per hour per "sweatshop" worker), however, shoes are retailed for as little as $1.25 to $5,XXX. Sales price may vary due to difference in retail price in various countries as well as the actual shoe size. For example, a pair of flip flops for a toddler can be purchased for in the United States for $1.25. A pair of flip flops for an adult for $2.50. Retail stores (e.g., Payless or Old Navy) retail boots for between $10.00 to $20.00 for an adult with an average adult shoe size. Consider purchasing a pair of used shoes from a consignment shop, thrift store, or "buy back and flip" store. These types of stores offer used shoes for as little as $1.25 to $5,000.
Footwear is readily accessible at one's local grocery shop or designer shoe store. Shoes can also be purchased at a mall or a gas station if one is a fashionista or a person who is in need of a quick pair of shoes. For the person who has limited time or shuns the lively traditional shopping experience or retail stores are limited based on locality can shop online and have shoes mailed /shipped directly at little or not additional cost.
Finally, used shoes carry more than just the "footprints" of the previous wearer. Used shoes can harbor fungus(e.g., "athletes feet") on the interior of the shoe posing a health risk to the person who purchases used footwear. A person who purchases footwear is also paying for used shoe soles and inserts. Used shoe soles may contribute to a person having an accident on pavement or at a work site due to lack of sole grip. Used shoes also may contain worn out inserts that may not be good for walking posture because worn out inserts do not lend to overall stability of a person's leg and knee joint during walking or other physical activities like running.
Ultimately, it is better for a person to buy new shoes. When a person buys new shoes cost the same or even less than to buy used shoes. New shoes can be purchased everywhere from ones local convenience mart to high end retail store. Purchasing new shoes is healthy and sanitary for the purchaser compared to buying used shoes.
