Like most of you, I was doing a countdown in early 2007 as to when we might finally get rid of George W Bush and Dick Cheney or as I like to call him, the veep! I gleefully watched the debates of both parties as we looked forward to January 20 2009, when we would finally be rid of the scourge of an administration that: alienated us to the global community, dragged us into a war that turned out to be a quagmire and the bane of our existence, and drained us of any optimism during their stewardship.
I watched with bemused interest and growing cynicism as both parties debated their ideologies to the people of our great nation. And like all of you, I was buying into the Hope and Change that our now current President Barack Obama was selling to the people of our great nation.
Now here is a man I believed that had not been tainted by the process of doing business the Capitol Hill way. A fresh face, a new way of doing things! I even watched the Inauguration and the parties going on, and even danced to a little Kanye West performing or as the President calls him, the Jackass!
But I digress. My purpose here is to produce an article that gives you guidance on choosing a political party. An ideology on which you can hang your hat. But the sad part is, for me personally, I find a choice of political affiliation to be a losing proposition these days! I look at Tea Parties and Town Hall meetings and I look at the face of America and what I see is the face of people who feel betrayed.
I see people who are disenfranchised, I see people who feel like I feel. I always liked the saying I heard in SICKO, a Michael Moore movie. They were talking to a french official and Moore asked why France's Government worked so well, and the officials words were music to my ears. He said, "Here people do not fear their Government, the Government fears the people!" And that is the way it should be!
I have become a budding anarchist. I have always come from a perspective of old fashioned values and very conservative beliefs, which I suppose makes me somewhat of an anomaly since I am a lifelong Southern Californian who grew up primarily just outside of LA!
However, this is an article that obviously is geared toward the younger and upcoming voters who will be participating in our so called democracy. First, one piece of advice; do not listen to your College Professors! And read One Party Classroom by David Klien if you want to know why I feel this way! I think most of the Professors on modern campuses
