Humor is extremely important in everyday life, for more than one reason. Not only will laughing help your body by naturally strengthening core muscles such as your lungs, heart, and stomach muscles it also stimulates you mentally. When you spend time socializing with a person who can make you laugh you become mentally stimulated. The pressures of the day just seem to melt away when you are sitting around laughing about what your friend saw their neighbor doing, or how funny it was when they noticed they called a new boyfriend instead of you trying to rant about how rude that guy at the ice cream counter was.
In the movie "Patch Adams", the doctor used humor to make his patients feel better, and this isn't fictional. When someone is sick, or just down in the dumps having that mental stimulation will make you feel better all around. It's hard to live in this world without feeling so stressed out sometimes, and what is better than laughter to bust someone out of a very stressful mood?
Laughing is the most natural way to make a person feel better. Whether you are the type of person who gets great joy from making others laugh, or someone who just enjoys the company of a funny friend you are going to gain. Laughing with a friend will also create a closer bond between the two. When you can make someone laugh, you can make their day that much better which in turn will make you feel better because you could cheer up that person you care about.
The University of Maryland Medical Center in Baltimore has also found studies that say laughing can protect you from heart attack and other heart problems. Humor will help your blood run better and your heart stay in a happy condition. Other studies say that laughing hysterically for five minutes is better than exercising for five hours. When you laugh your brain is able to receive more oxygen. Your brain starts a transformation with just a simple giggle, and when you laugh harder your brain starts using nerves. You will feel that tingle of joy that is sent from your heart. If you are able to get a laugh out everyday, your life will improve. Not only will you start feeling better about yourself and the world around you, your body will get the great exercise only laughing can help you acquire.
