Great Bulletin Board Ideas For Thanksgiving

Teachers are constantly searching for creative methods to decorate their bulletin boards, especially during a festive holiday season such as Thanksgiving. New and innovative ideas are hard to come by, and therefore some of the more tried, tested, and true bulletin board ideas still get used. Good bulletin boards often contain the same elements of vibrant colour usage typically seen during Autumn, and elements of family and giving thanks.

Thematic bulletin boards entice the eye and snare the attention of those that amble past. Like a billboard peddling a product, an effective bulletin board grabs the attention of the public eye and is appealing in many aspects. A Thanksgiving bulletin board should be visually stimulating, using a vast array of colours and styles, and should also include a human touch, something that evokes emotion. A bulletin board tells a story, and an effective teacher will tell a story that other teachers and students are interested in hearing about.

Thanksgiving is a time of year when people reflect on their lives, and give thanks for all that they have in their lives. It is a time to relish family and friends, and to remember the spirit behind the holiday. It is more than just time off of school, turkey, and football. It is a time to pause, and to enjoy the taste of humble pie, not just pumpkin pie. Sentimental feelings can be safely sequestered by those who fear the repercussions of showing emotion when a catchy bulletin board touches a chord deep within.

Bulletin boards often seem to be a daunting task to the teacher assigned the onerous task of co-ordinating its creation. The bulletin boards that adorn the hallways of the local elementary schools are often labours of love, and they are always thematic, which means that they are often changing. Thanksgiving is a time of year when the bulletin boards change, and teachers are constantly striving to come up with some great bulletin board ideas. New, freshly vibrant ideas are always welcomed in any school hallway.

Whether or not the bulletin board is located in the main lobby or foyer of your school, hidden in a back hallway, or displayed prominently in your classroom, the idea is to make a bulletin board that stands out to all that see it, and to pay homage to an integral piece of our past.
