Getting comfortable with being single and childless

We all hit an age where we want to be married, and have a couple of kids running around. However, life rarely happens as we want it too, and sometimes we have to adjust our plans for life. There is nothing wrong with being single and 30, or not having anything at all when you are 40. There is so much more to life than having kids and a marriage. If anything, those things can sometimes hold us back. If anything, we should be happy with what we do have, and let the other stuff fall into place.

The best thing about being childless and single is that you have complete control over what happens in your life. You don't have to turn down a new job opportunity because you have to think of your kids or your husband. You don't have to worry about buying a house where the schools might not be great because your wife thinks the kids wouldn't do well. You can do whatever you want whenever you want to do so.

When you don't have a relationship, or don't have kids, you wish you did. However, it seems as soon as you do get into a relationship, you don't want to be in one. We always want what we don't have, and we always think that the grass is greener on the other side. To be honest, there is no such thing as a perfect situation in life, so maybe having kids and a wife isn't what you want after all?

Our lives aren't determined by having a husband, or having kids. Our lives are always going to be judged by what we do, and how we carry ourselves. Not having a family is but a curious footnote in the historical tale of your life, and if you are ever remembered for anything, it will be for your great feat of strength, or invention, not your personal life. Don't worry about what will be mostly forgotten when all is said and done in this life.

The only person that can consider your life a failure, or a success is you. Life isn't a competition, and life isn't about who gets married first, or has kids first. We all go at our own pace, and for some people it isn't even good to get married or have kids. You can be a good person and not have kids. There is no law saying you must reproduce, or face the consequences. That is just pressure that we put on ourselves from time to time.

Not getting married, or having kids isn't a bad thing. It allows us to live our lives to the fullest, and gives you chances that your married friends don't have. Just like anything else in life, there are good and bad reasons to do anything, and a trade off between what we want, and what we have to give up to get what we want. In the end it might not really be worth it to gain what we can't have, just because we want what we can't have right now.
