Mafia wars is a game that appears simple but as you begin to explore you discover that there is considerably more to it than appears on the surface and sometimes by the time you discover that important parts of the game exist you have moved beyond the point when they are most useful. One of the easiest to miss is that of collections and the vault.

To find them from the home page of mafia wars click on inventory and then on collections and vault. Here you will see a list of items that you can collect. If you get 1 of each of the times you will get some type of a bonus. This will either be energy, stamina, attack or defense. If you have been playing long there is a good chance that you may already have a full collection. If you do simply vault it to get the bonus.

In addition to this if you have more sets you can exchange them for boosts. These are short term advantages but very powerful early in the game. They are able to decrease the cost in energy of jobs, give you bonus on attacking and defending and more. Do not hold back on the use of these as they become less useful with every level you gain.

The items themselves are found when you do jobs. Each type of items is connected to one of the job levels but any job in that level has about the same chance of finding one of the items. For this reason it is best to do jobs that you are either attempting to master, or that have items that you need. The chief among these is the rob a electronics store and if you want to simply do the same job over and over to get items this is the best to chose because you will need the other items later.

Outside of doing jobs the only real way to get items is to get them from your friends. The easiest way to help this is by putting up a list of the things you need and then sending items to them that you don't. This tends to remind people to check this part of the game and reciprocation is a powerful human need, besides even if they don't give you anything at least you have helped them out.

It is useful to check your collections at the end of each game session of mafia as any vaulted collection can help you reach the next level and the free energy and stamina that comes with it.
