Ladies who have a fuller figure tend to dread winter, when more layers are needed to keep warm. However, something marvelous is happening on the fashion scene today which means that dressing for winter need not be such a bind. With the reintroduction of styles which suit the fuller figure, dress choices have never been so flattering.

Waistlines.
Thankfully this year, waistlines are out of vogue, replaced by those items which resemble the older shift styles of the late sixties. Dresses are fuller, though this gives the fuller figure more to hide behind, though the advantage is that the waistlines are not accentuated at all. Instead, fashion houses have plumbed for using fabrics which detract the eye away from those features the fuller figured woman prefers to camouflage.
Colors.
The colors this year suit the fuller figure, in flattering but muted colors. Although dresses are available in light colors, the range of dresses offered for the winter include those which are in grays, blacks, navy and subtle shades which are great to make a lady feel and look slimmer. Avoid patterns, which is easy, since these are out of style this year for ladies over teen years. The little black dress from Marion James is certainly one which can be worn by the fuller lady, with a shawl or neat jacket.
Lengths.
The lengths this year also flatter ladies who are full figured, falling below the knee. For those ladies who are short, this doesn't mean compromise, since these can be mix and matched with great shoes to give extra height. The overall illusion of length and cut this year is clever. Fabrics drape well and instead of hugging the larger figure, actually enhance the look.
Fabrics.
Gentle velors have been used in all kinds of styles. The fabrics this year are solidly woven without added thickness, meaning that women don't have to dread those layers. The fabrics used this year cleverly incorporate cottons and wools in mixtures which are relatively thin, though retain warmth.
Cut.
The overall look for the lady this year is loose. Gone are the tailored styles, and the fuller figure woman can more easily integrate into the classic style of today by choosing those dresses which enhance those features they are proud of. For example, if large busted, there are many styles which take the emphasis away from the bust area with high necks. For those who have thick thighs, the styles this year don't emphasize them at all since the skirts of dresses are fuller.
Accessories.
Dresses can always be a useful addition to the wardrobe for the fuller figure. They can be dressed up with accessories and jackets, shawls or can be worn without, though it is worthwhile thinking of accessories such as scarves to brighten up the otherwise muted colors. By introducing small areas of brightness into the overall look, the fuller figured lady doesn't have to look overstated, and can certainly look her best and be in vogue at the same time.
