Listen to the Wind


Listen to the wind,
Its heartbeat, the summer breeze
Pumping through the trees.

And all of these
Little whispers taking flight
In the leaves, the throat of the

Storm, chattering,
Telling us a tempest is trembling
That will come and shake us all

Leaving us lost,
Tossed in a tumult of sound, grounded
In ancient oaks, telling us

Guard out homes.
The flighty sycamores
Deliver life to those yet unborn;

The strong elm
Caresses and holds our outer form
When we return to the Mother's

Womb to be cradled
And nurtured once again,
Ready for rebirth in the spring.

Listen to the wind
It will rock you with its lullaby
In that new life to come

It makes stars twinkle again;
Gives breath to us all,
And in the fall, its rougher draught

Will buff us with its kisses,
And make cold, cold winter
Our warm Mistress.
