In the blue corner, hailing from Denver Colorado, weighing in at 265 pounds and standing at 6'5, Shane Carwin. At the upcoming UFC 106, Shane Carwin will battle the gargantuan Brock Lesnar. The question everyone wants to know is can Brock be beat? Well of course, anyone can be beat and Brock has been beat. That being said, Brock lost his second ever match via a submission to one of the greatest heavyweight Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioners of all time. Since then he has avenged that loss and in only his 4th fight, defeated the legendary Randy Couture to become the UFC Heavyweight Champion. That being said, he only has five fights.

Even though Brock has fought only five times, he has fought increasingly tougher competition and has beaten a few greats. Shane Carwin is currently 11-0. While this is nothing to scoff at, his only notable win came at UFC 96 where he beat Gabriel Gonzaga. So even though he technically has more experience, Brock has a decided advantage on the tougher fights. That being said, this is the first time that a fighter will rival Brocks size and possibly his skill.

While Carwin is taller, both fighters will be close in weight with Brock possibly slightly heavier. Despite the sheer massiveness of Lesnar, he is very quick and agile which is very rare for a man of his size. His strength combine with his speed are truly a devastating combination. These two behemoths will be similar in strength but Brock should have the speed advantage. The other factor of note is that Brock has one with his wrestling. This is his greatest advantage. He has been able to manhandle his smaller opponents and then dominate with his great wrestling abilities. This too may be nullified.

Shane Carwin is also a very good wrestler. Combined with his strength, he may be able to stop Brocks wrestling. This is where I believe he has a chance. Carwin has hands of stone. Carwin has true one punch knockout power. If he can hit Brock, he should be able to stop him in his tracks. The other advantage that may come into play is that Carwin is a purple belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Brock can be caught. So if this is taken to the ground, he may be able to use his wrestling combined with his jiu-jitsu to finish Brock there.

So yes, Carwin can win this fight. Brock can be beat. Whether this will occur is a big if though. Brock is improving in leaps and bounds every fight and every fight he looks more and more unstoppable. Even in his defeat, he was dominating Mir and was merely caught. Plus, as was stated previously, Brock has fought the tougher competition and that counts for something. If this fight stays on its feet, Carwin has a great chance, if Brock can impose his will as usual, Carwin may need to regroup and try again next time.
