Most people in this world will at some point in their lives admit that when they were a teen, they struggled with sexuality. It's completely natural to be curious about sex, the opposite gender, and sometimes, even the same gender! Most adults will even agree that sex is a confusing and difficult thing to understand, so when you're a teen trying to figure out the world is all you are really focusing on. When a teens hormones start flowing, sex is usually the reason why mind. Many teens, especially guys, will turn to pornography to figure out their bodies and sex.

This is a trend that many feel is not that big of a deal and that it is a natural rite of passage while others don't agree and feel that it's inappropriate. Regardless of your feelings on masturbation and pornography, when an addiction forms it can do nothing but damage. As a parent, your role is to do the best you can to guide and direct your youth to make the best decisions for their lives. So what are you supposed to do when you feel your child has an addiction to pornography?

How you deal with this problem can be affected by where you are coming from. Your personal beliefs on the subject will affect your ability to rationally address the issue. So think carefully about what you truly need to do to help your child. Try not to make a decision out of the disgust factor many parents face when they find out their child is doing these things. If you are coming from a side comfortable with the two practices, you must be careful not to let the idea of it being a natural activity, deflect the real issue of addiction and how the pornography is affecting your child.

Whether you feel that masturbation and pornography are innately wrong or not you will have to take some basic steps to limit the ability to continue access until they are able to get the help they need to recover from their addiction. For most families, this is not a subject comfortably discussed so you will want to find a way of monitoring things such as computer, dvd/television use, and alone time your child has. Some teens can be very clever, buying the VISA money cards and using them to lie about their ages and buy porn online, through the mail, borrow it from friends, or even steal yours! In fact, many kids get started with porn though finding their father or siblings' video tape or magazines. Keeping track of your possessions, free time and controlling what they are exposed to is the best way to prevent and control most addictions like drugs,
