I wander oftentimes in my mind
never ceasing to strive for understanding.
Is the life of one man (or woman) truly worth the tears,
the sacrifices,
the fears,
the angst created by existing as a living, breathing being
caught between a hard place and a rock?
...between the frying pan and the fire?
...between confusion and understanding?
I wander often-times in my mind
never knowing what sharp and windy precipice lies waiting.
Am I soon to find that nothing
not talent
not ego
not character
not even love gives worth to a living, breathing being
striving to find meaning between birth and death
...between an infant's cry and a last dying breath
...between hot blooded youth and fearful old age.
I wander,
...and wonder.
