Fall craft projects for your porch

by Amanda Dcosta

There are endless possibilities of craft projects that one may make for their porch during Fall. At times, even if there is no front porch, an impression of one may be given depending on the art work done. Listed below are some of the easy-to-do projects which require simple items and throw out the vibrancy of the earth tones.

#1. Painted Window Panes

-glass paints

-paint brushes

-silver paint

The glass panes of the windows are ideal for setting off a beautiful Fall scene when viewed from the front of the house. Draw a fine outline of a picture using carbon paper if required. Paint the picture on the glass in earth tones of red, yellow, orange, and brown. Leave fine gaps in the outline between colors. On the reverse side of the glass, paint the entire picture area with silver paint. The view from the front will almost instantly come alive with beauty. Use your imagination to create a picture that gives an interesting blend of Fall colors. Make sure to use a hint of green too.

# 2. Autumn Tree

An Autumn Tree is a replica or a make believe tree based on the original. For this, collect branches or twigs of plants from the yard. There will always be leaves on the ground which can be collected for use. Note the colors of the leaves and use similar shades when doing this fall craft project.

Place a branch of the tree in a flower pot, placed on one side of the porch. Decorate this tree by sticking leaves to it, the corresponding leaves to the corresponding tree. It should give the impression of a miniature version of the original tree.

Creativity needs no bounds and for the more adventurous, cut out leaves for the tree from ordinary self color sheets of paper or from crepe paper. Crepe paper is more ideal as the apt color may be used for the leaves, for eg., orange and yellow paper may be used for the leaves of the maple tree. For those that use plain paper, paint the cut-out leaves with the corresponding leaf color. Finally glue these leaves on to the main branch. The finished look should give the impression of a bonsai tree. Be creative in the setting and arrangement of the tree.

#3. Decorated Basket With Handmade Paper Flowers, Acorns & Pines

Paper flowers are easy to make. They can be made from simple items such as crepe paper, twine, glue and plant stalks.

Collect fallen acorns and pines from around the neighbourhood. These may be dusted and varnished to make them look beautiful. Once the varnish is dry, they may be arranged in the appropriate setting. At times, acorns painted in shades of red and orange look very pretty when arranged with dry flower and sprigs of dry grass.

Use fruit and flower baskets to decorate the table placed in the front porch during a family gathering or a party. Arrange the flowers neatly, giving ample view of the acorns and pines in it. Place pebbles and little rocky bits of stone too to give it a rustic Fall country side setting. Be innovative and creative. Liven up your porch with a few craft projects that bring out a touch of life and class to an otherwise possibly dull day.
