Advertising has always been a commercial companies way of communicating and promoting it's product or service to the curious buying public.

Usually advertisements can be in the form of commercial on the radio, commercials on TV, commercial ads on posters and billboards or in today's technology you have Internet marketing. Pop ups are typically annoying but are a method of on-line advertising as well as email ads and banners embedded in websites.

The Internet seems never ending with people turning to the world wide web for just about everything from learning to shopping. Often websites have sponsors or partners who advertise on their website offering a service or product in the line of interest to the website. Both helping promote the product or service and bring hits to the website itself.

Internet marketing and promoting seems to be one of the quickest ways for companies to promote their products to potential customers and clients on-line. Almost every major company these days start with their very own website with information regarding the company, it's products and partners among other things.

Social networking has become today's new wave of staying in touch, meeting networks of people with similar interests and of course useful for businesses.

Business can set up a fan page on face book, which is one of today's leading social networking sites. On this fan page users can see the latest updates on the company and their products keeping them up to date with things.

Companies have also turned to the social networking site Twitter to get their name across. On Twitter people can follow the companies for updates on products and such.

Through these social networking websites companies have been jumping on the bandwagon of having contests to help promote their product. The company simply can create a twitter account under their company's name (example @mycompany1) and promote by tweeting to other members of twitter about their product, service and even sometimes have give away contests for people who mention them while chatting on twitter.

For example a company recently had a Twitter contest where users simply had to send and forward messages on to their friends about that certain company's product and they would have the chance to win one themselves.

This is a smart idea due to the mass of people using social websites like these every day. Word of mouth has always been a preferred method why not word of the digital age.
