Sitting on the sand
Looking off the land
The high tides
The low tides
That drops off at my feet
The sand tickles my feet
The chill chatters my teeth
But I am lost in thoughts
Can now be bought
By the sweet world out here
Then I decide to explore
To see the wonders
Not below the Lahore
Not above the thunders
But deep in the sea
Then I can't have some tea
Different plants I have never known
Different fishes in the unknown
Different animals I still can remember
That swam round I round when I did ponder
About the big wide world down below
Which we great humans cannot go into
Back outside on the very hot sand
The wind blew my hair into waves
But then I noticed
While I was lost
That a sea gull nuzzled at my feet
Then I searched in my bag
For a nice crusty cracker
And then the skies got darker
That told me the tag
But I wanted to leave a present for the bird
That nuzzled greedily at my leg
Then I opened my hand
And it jumped with its band
Of brothers and friends that had come to the feast
Another cracker was brought out
To complete the gulls day out
Then I look back at the picture
That I had carefully taken
Of the unknown
And the known
Of the gulls
And the waves
Of the sand
And the animals band
I feel much better
And I wish to go on the latter
To the place of the known
And the unknown
The beach.
