Money itself has no power over people. Money is just coin and a piece of paper. It is to exchange for good or bad. Money is a thing. Money does not have a brain to think how to hurt people. It is not the root of all evil. Rather, it is how people use and spend money that causes all kinds of evil to exist in their lives. In addition, the love of money has the power over them.

People can use and spend money either for good or evil. To use it for good means that people use money to help the poor, to do some charity work, and to survive in this world. People use money to buy grocery, clothes and shoes, put their children through school, and to pay bills. They also use money to take the bus or to put gas in the car, and to buy other material things. It is nothing wrong to provide needs for kids and for themselves as long as they are doing works that are legal. In addition, using money also helps to motivate some people to go to work. It is not a bad thing after all. On the other hand, using money to motivate people might also lead them to focus on money more than other things in life. For instance, since they have more and more money, they might fall in love with money more than anything. In addition, people using and spending money to do evil things bring only grief to their lives. To use it for evil means that people use money to buy illegal drugs and to buy alcohol, for wars, for indulgence, to control, and to kill. This can lead people who use money for doing evil to destruction. How? It is by starting to love money more than anything.

The love of money leads to all kinds of evil (I Timothy 6:10). People who love money become more selfish and greedy. They always want more and more money. They are never satisfied for what they have. They always complain if someone has more money than them, or that they do not have enough. Jealousy, hatred, anger, and all other negative and evil behaviors enter into their lives. As evil desires and behaviors enter into their lives, they might decide do anything to have more money. They might even steal and kill for money. In this case, they have no mercy for life. The love of money destroys them instead leading them to life. The Bible states, "People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction" (I Timothy 6:9).

People who love money more than anything also consider money as their God. They turn their faith from Jesus Christ, our Lord
