"Indomitable Ancients" is a 2/10 white treefolk warrior that is printed as a rare for the Magic the Gathering expansion set known as "Morningtide." The Morningtide expansion set is rather interesting as it promotes "tribal unity" amongst creature types and sub-types. There is the promotion of unity in regards to elves. There is also the promotion of unity around warriors. In all respects, Morningtide has introduced quite the interesting game play dynamic. In regards to Indomitable Ancients, you can use this in a treefolk and/or warrior deck. Depending on how you use Indomitable Ancients, you can definitely get a lot of use out of it.
The converted mana cost for Indomitable Ancients would be four. You will need two white mana and two colorless mana to bring Indomitable Ancients from your hand and onto the battlefield. For what Indomitable Ancients can do, the casting cost is well worth it for the most part.
What does Indomitable Ancients do in the first place?
Indomitable Ancients does not have any special abilities at all. However, it has the power of two and the toughness of ten. Any creature with the toughness of ten points makes for an excellent blocker. Alone, you have quite the excellent blocker. This is something that could be used against most creatures.
But, there are cards that Indomitable Ancients can work with. One example would be "Doran, the Siege Tower." Doran, the Siege Tower is a legendary treefolk that is green, white, and black. It is 0/5. When Doran, the Siege Tower is on the battlefield, creatures deal damage equal to its toughness rather than its power. A 4/2 creature will deal two points of combat damage while a 1/6 creature will deal six points of damage. In regards to Indomitable Ancients, it will be able to deal ten points of combat damage.
However, there is more. In a multicolored deck, if you are also going to use red, you can combine this with "Boldwyr Intimidator" and "Rage Reflection." Boldwyr Intimidator is a red giant warrior. Its activated ability keeps cowards from blocking warriors. For one red mana, you can make a target creature into a coward. With Doran, the Siege Tower on the battlefield, you can have Indomitable Ancients deal ten points of combat damage and not get blocked in the process. With Rage Reflection, your creatures including Indomitable Ancients will get Double Strike.
When the ability of Rage Reflection interacts with the abilities of Doran, the Siege Tower and Boldwyr Intimidator, you can have Indomitable Ancients deal Double Strike damage. In this respect, it would be twenty points of combat damage. This interaction alone can cause you to decimate an opponent in one attack.
In a five-colored Exalted deck, you can combine Doran, the Siege Tower with several Exalted cards such as "Rafiq of the Many," "Finest Hour," and "Battlegrace Angel." Make sure you find a way to give Indomitable Ancients the ability of Trample. Remember, Exalted is only present in the blue, white, and green cards in the Alara cycle. If you have this interaction of cards, Indomitable Ancients can attack alone and gain a bunch of benefits until the end of the turn.
Overall, Indomitable Ancients is a pretty decent card for the most part. It makes for an excellent defender. At the same time, a good interaction of cards will make Indomitable Ancients extremely impressive.
