Magic the Gathering card analysis: Boldwyr Intimidator

There are certain cards that make you want to build a deck around a certain theme of creatures. One such card is the "Boldwyr Intimidator." This is a 5/5 red giant warrior printed as an uncommon for the Magic the Gathering expansion set known as "Morningtide." While this is a giant creature, you want to use this in a warrior-themed deck. This card has an interesting dynamic in which you want to build around the theme of warriors. Depending on how you build the deck, you can get a lot out of the Boldwyr Intimidator.

The converted mana cost for Boldwyr Intimidator is seven. You will need two red mana and five colorless mana to bring Boldwyr Intimidator out. For what the Boldwyr Intimidator can do, the converted mana cost is well worth it for the most part. Remember, you will get the most out of the Boldwyr Intimidator if you build a warrior-themed deck. If you are also playing with green, you can use "Mana Reflection" which dramatically boosts mana acceleration.

What does Boldwyr Intimidator do in the first place?

As soon as Boldwyr Intimidator is put on the battlefield, this one ability automatically activates: Cowards cannot block Warriors. This one activated ability works with the other two abilities of the Boldwyr Intimidator.

By paying one red mana, a target creature becomes a coward until the end of the turn. Make sure the target creature neither has Shroud nor Protection from Red. Other than that, any creature is fair game. If an opponent has something like the "Serra Avatar" or the "Darksteel Colossus" on the battlefield, you can pay one red mana and make them into cowards. Then, you can attack with your warrior creatures.

By paying one red mana and two colorless mana, a target creature becomes a warrior until the end of the turn.

In a warrior deck, you can get aggressive with Boldwyr Intimidator. If you have a bunch of lands on the battlefield, you can use "Allosaurus Rider" which is an X+1/X+1 elf warrior. Its power and toughness is equal to the lands you control +1. If you have seven lands under your control, Allosaurus Rider becomes 8/8. If you have Boldwyn Intimidator, you can use your red mana to turn your opponent's creatures into cowards. Then, you can attack with Allosaurus Rider.

Overall, Boldwyr Intimidator is a good card for a warrior themed deck. To get the most out of it, you want to play aggressively. You can leave your opponents virtually defenseless for the most part by using Boldwyr Intimidator to turn their creatures into cowards. All you have to do is attack with your warriors.
