Poetry: My soul's despair

The Eyes of Darkness

The eyes of darkness death's dual spies,
their gaze alone will end our lives.
The end is near, you must take heed.
Death is here to act out its deed.

The eyes of darkness search for me,
I slip away so they don't see.
I enshroud myself in the night,
so one more hour I'll dwell to fight.

The eyes of darkness fall on me,
stricken with fear I call to thee,
for my soul is what they beseech,
Goddess please guard me from their reach.

The eyes of darkness capture me,
ail and doom for eternity.
Athena to thee I implore,
unite the Gods to win this war.

The eyes of darkness renounce me,
on wings of angels I did flee.
Out of the fiery pits of hell,
for one more day I live to tell.
