Poetry: Nature's song

by Carole Somerville

Created on: October 24, 2009   Last Updated: October 25, 2009

Feminine is the Earth, fertile and stable
Mother of all; grasps the seasons in her hands
The planet in her palm, mountains, sea and sands
A solid fixed ball: birth death and rebirth therein
All aspects of life, the earth within as above the angels sing

Air, the breath of life, invisible; inhale, there but hidden
A soul, a mind, a spirit, communication, air is wisdom
Unseen yet there, filling empty spaces, rising in pressure
Carries away troubles, blows away problems, a measure
Not easily calculated; a volatile capricious power

Water a feminine energy, flowing, healing, purifying, cleansing
Dreams, passion, emotion spirituality, holy water, the sea
Gentle streams, trickles, steady drops powerful in their intensity
A force to be reckoned with, a gentle touch, respect it duly

Fire a masculine energy, symbolizing energy and fertility
Creating, destroying warming, healing and harming
Forms new life; destroys the old and worn, gentle and devastating
Tiny flicker from a spark, branching out and expanding
Elements uniting and merging, with each other surviving.
