THE FISH'S STORY

I must say, it was the most memorable day of my life, I never imagined it would happen like that!

My name is Frances, I am a fish, and this is my story. Ever since I was a small fish, I knew I wanted to do something for the Lord. But whatever could I do? I'm just a fish!

I used to swim a lot around Ninevah and I saw the wickedness of the people. I knew they needed to know my God, but what could I do?

Please Lord God, what can I do? You have me here for a purpose, when will you show me what that purpose is?

I tried not to get discouraged, because I knew God had me here for a reason and in His due time He would call on me.

One day, in my swimming excursions, I headed over to Tarshish to do some exploring. I had often come to this spot, it was one of my favorite. It seemed I felt close to the Lord here, and had many good talks with Him here. But this day was different. The waters got rough, it was as though they were in a rage about something. I don't know, it was just strange.I wondered whatever was happening; I heard how God purified by fire, but perhaps He is purifying me by water!

All of a sudden I saw this man plunging in front of me, I felt led not to eat him, but to swallow him whole! I was glad I did not sink my teeth into him for several reasons; but immediately because, boy was he bitter to the taste!

The water calmed all around me. I felt such peace from God. I felt so close to God, more than I had ever felt before. I realized at this time why God did not allow me to eat this man, but rather I was to protect him and keep him where God could speak to him.

This man inside me was Jonah and I could hear him praying unto the Lord God (Jonah 2:1-9). Then the Lord spoke unto me and I vomited out Jonah upon the dry land.

The Lord spoke to Jonah again and told him to go to Ninevah and preach salvation to them.

Who would ever have believed that I, a fish, could be used by God. I guess I am proof that God can use anyone, in His own way, for His purpose. You know, if He could use me, don't you suppose He could use you too?

Thank you God for using me.
