On a bright and beautiful summer day,
Where sunlight chases darkness away
I look up to the sky and say
"What a marvelous day to be alive!"
As down my path I slowly walk,
As to the dirt I gently talk
Of love and hate, of war and peace,
And castings of our human strife.
So solemnly, it pays me heed,
The same as though I were a seed,
And in its berth I lie in wait
To one day reach up to the sky.
I spill my heart upon the ground.
My burden drops without a sound.
Now free of self-wrought hindrance
I stand up tall
I cease my stride
My hands reach with splayed fingers
towards the clouds,
Feet rooted firmly to the ground
And as my skin soaks in the sun, I say,
"What a marvelous day to be alive! "
