My Legacy
As I sit here, I wonder? Am I the person I wished me to be?
Have I treated others with compassion and caring, regardless
of how I was treated? Did I take care of and love my family?
Did I smile and speak to someone who was friendless?
Or did I offer a helping hand to someone lost and broken?
Or did I turn away and pretend I didn't see the anguish
in their eyes? Or maybe sit with someone and just listen?
Or maybe help someone with a dream or a small wish?
When I leave this tired old world, I would like to know
that I made a difference. That I did what was right.
And I was kind. I didn't live my life looking out a window,
I took a stand and cared for my fellow man. I lived in the light.
My legacy I wish to leave behind is not new, but rare.
That others will step up and stand up for others that are
Weak or frail, Sad or broken or just empty from despair.
Take the time to show someone, anyone that you care.
