"Leaf-Crowned Elder" is a 3/5 green treefolk shaman printed as a rare for the Magic the Gathering expansion set known as "Morningtide." This is one of the types of cards that help out a specific creature type or sub-type. In the case of Leaf-Crowned Elder, you want to have a creature deck filled with treefolk and shamans. The converted mana cost for Leaf-Crowned Elder is four. You will need two green mana and two colorless mana to bring Leaf-Crowned Elder from your hand and onto the battlefield. For what the Leaf-Crowned Elder can do, the mana cost is pretty much worth it for the most part. If you can get this card out early in the game, it should be very good for you.
What does the Leaf-Crowned Elder do in the first place?
It has one ability. This one ability of Leaf-Crowned Elder ensures that you do not have to rely much on mana acceleration and mana fixing. It has this ability known as Kinship. Its Kinship ability lets you look at the top card of your library at the start of your upkeep. If the card is a treefolk and/or shaman, you can play it without paying the mana cost. In a multicolored deck, this is a good card to have. In a sense, you could possibly bring out the "Black Poplar Shaman" which is a black treefolk shaman. Should something happen to Leaf-Crowned Elder, you can use Black Poplar Shaman's ability of paying one black mana and two colorless mana to regenerate the Leaf-Crowned Elder.
You could get lucky and bring out "Bosk Banneret." It reduces the cost of treefolk and shaman spells by one colorless mana.
This ability of Leaf-Crowned Elder can beef up "Dauntless Dourback" whose power and toughness equals to the number of Forests and Treefolk creatures you control. If you have another treefolk creature on the battlefield, it gains Trample.
