Poetry: Outcast

The Platinum Triangle of Privilege

Where big city mentality

Meets small-town charm

The so-called "Platinum Triangle of Privilege"

Where precious metals of all sorts

Signify the precious unions of love

That populate the perfectly built buildings

Atop the perfectly manicured lawns.

Where to be perfect still is not good enough

And to be not good enough

Will never get you in or out of the door.

If you cannot make it there, you will never make it anywhere.

Where ivory tower arrogance is the assumed and suggested standard.pl And where the suggested standard of behavior is "perfect or please leave."

"Please leave if you are not privileged."

"Please leave if you are not perfect."

"Please leave if you prefer to companion rather than to compete."

"And please leave if my pesky and persnickety pleads for perfection are a peeve of yours."
