"Lightning Crafter" is a 3/3 red goblin shaman printed as a rare for the Magic the Gathering expansion set known as "Morningtide." It is one of the cards in Morningtide that promotes "tribal unity" or "tribal synergy" with one or two different types of creatures. In the case of Lightning Crafter, it promotes synergy with goblins and shamans.

The converted mana cost for the Lightning Crafter is four. You will need one red mana and three colorless mana to cast Lightning Crafter. For what Lightning Crafter can do, the converted mana cost is very reasonable enough for the most part.

What does Lightning Crafter do in the first place?

When the card first enters the battlefield, you can Champion a goblin or shaman. In this respect, you temporarily Exile another goblin or shaman from the game. If you do not, you sacrifice Lightning Crafter. If and when Lightning Crafter is sent to the graveyard or Exiled from the game, the other creature returns to the battlefield.

By tapping Lightning Crafter, you can deal three points of damage to a target creature or player. In this respect, you have the ability to ping creatures for damage. This is also a handy way to get rid of annoying planeswalkers for the most part. There is one question to be asked: How do you get the bang out of Lightning Crafter?

So far, it seems to be good in an aggressive shock and burn deck. In a shock and burn deck, you are going to want fast creatures. Lightning Crafter can use its ability to ping creatures for damage. That should enable you to make sure your aggressive creatures move in fast to deal combat damage to your opponent.

There are combinations that go good with Lightning Crafter. If you can get Lightning Crafter onto the battlefield early enough, you should be able to take out most of you opponents' creatures. In this respect, you can combine this with "Vicious Shadows" or "Extractor Demon." Whenever a creature gets sent to the graveyard, you can have Vicious Shadows deal X points of damage to a target player in which X equals the number of cards in his/her hand. Extractor Demon makes a target opponent "mill" the top two cards of his/her library into his/her graveyard, whenever a creature gets sent to the graveyard.

Overall, Lightning Crafter is a good card. However, there is one drawback to it. You are forced to play a goblin and/or rogue deck. However, that should not really be a problem if you have something like "Goblin Assault" which spawns a 1/1 red goblin soldier token at the start of your upkeep.
