White has always has always had a respectable number of small creatures, but until recent years those creatures had no real theme. In the newest core set of magic the gathering there has been an attempt to rectify that by giving it a soldier theme. The Savanna Lion has been replaced by a soldier, and other soldiers have been created as well. But the deck still has the same problem that it always has. It can be very impressive in getting through for ten or even fifteen damage before the opponent has any real defense but once the opponent is able to get his guard up the small creatures are often overmatched.
Cenn's Tactition is an uncommon 1/1 Kithkin soldier from the morningtide expansion set of magic the gathering. It is a near perfect card for a white weenie soldier deck. It is the right size and cost for hitting the board very early in the game and its ability makes it useful at any point.
This ability costs one white and tapping and allows you to put a +1/+1 counter on any soldier creature. In addition any creature you have with a +1/+1 counter on it can block an additional creature. This makes him a great choice because he can remain untapped as an emergency blocker and at the end of every opponent's turn put a +1/+1 counter on one of your soldiers. That this also allows them to be better blockers if need be.
One of the main advantages of this card is that it lets you do more damage without using more cards. This is valuable because this type of deck commonly empties its hand and then has very little to do.
The main danger of this card is that because it is good a player may choose not to use it correctly. Putting +1/+1 counters on creatures is likely the most valuable choice for it, but not always and losing games because you are afraid to lose a creature is an all to common mistake.
In limited there are a high enough number of soldiers that this card should be useful and if you can draft multiples it begins to becomes something very useful. Putting one or two of these out early in a game could all but guarantee that you have the largest creature on the board unless your opponent kills it and even then it would not take long for two of these to build up another creature.
