For those who know how to use Helium.com to its full advantage, the site can be an excellent source of "extra" income. Here area few tips for making the most of the time you spend at Helium:
1. Rate often.
In order to earn revenue on your existing articles, you'll need to maintain at least one rating star. Rating is fairly painless when you do it a few articles at a time, so check in often and spend a few minutes rating. Be sure to take your time, rate fairly, and look for objective criteria like grammar and spelling. Only "quality" rates will help you earn stars.
2. Write about popular topics.
An article about a popular subject like home decorating or money management is more likely to earn revenues than a personal memoir or an essay on an obscure subject. Think about what you search for when you use the Internet, and try to write the type of articles that you find helpful and informative. Also note that Helium helps its users find popular titles on each channel. When you read an article on Helium, there is a box in the right sidebar which has a tab for articles on the homepage and a tab for most popular titles. Clicking on the most popular titles will show you a list of popular titles in the same channel as the article you are reading.
3. Write what you know.
Learning about a new subject can be rewarding, but if you are spending several hours researching an article, you are not using your writing time efficiently. In the time it takes to write one article on a new subject, you probably could have turned out several quality pieces in your field of expertise. Think about what you know well and write articles that share that knowledge.
Are you an Internet addict? Write a review of your favorite website. A whiz in the kitchen? Share some recipes and cooking tips. Have you gone "green"? Tell the world how to save the planet.
4. Write to titles with four or fewer articles.
Only the first five articles written to a given title will receive the upfront bonus. By writing for new titles, you can earn as much as $2.50 per article, depending on the number of writing stars you have. You can also earn the generous upfront bonus by creating a new title and writing one of the first five articles under the title you created.
5. Participate in contests.
Taking part in a Helium contest gives you a chance to earn additional cash on top of the revenue you will collect over time. Even if you don't win any prize
