Writing in my form of artistic expression. There are many types of artists in this world painters, singers, actors, directors, sculptors, knitters and many more. Few people find there passion in life to fulfill, but most have skills with dust on them. Just like many writers, I am an introvert that finds it easier to express myself through writing. If everyone were put here to add something to this earth, writing is my contribution to humanity.
There are plenty of things I wish I could do, singing is one of them. I fear being one of those people considered a jack of all trades and master at none. I spent so many years doing other things and following money to make myself happy. After many years of pursuing the American dream of home ownership and job success, I realized I had become mundane. I wrote short stories in high school but once I graduated, I put my writing skills on the top shelf and joined the work force. After seven years of my affair with cash, I woke up one day and realized I had not created anything in a very long time.
Creative people whether, introvert creators or extrovert creators need to be creative, otherwise a time will come when they are frustrated and want to be freed. I know so many people who are masters at something they are not utilizing, they are allowing security to vanish their dreams and desires. Many of these people start to regret not pursuing their passion as they get older. I did not want to be one of those people. I decided to give up my great paying job, downsize my home and become an artist, a writing artist.
Today I may not have as much cash as before, or get to experience as much as I did when I could afford it, but I wake up everyday feeling happy because I realize this is a new day to think and write. Writing is my therapy, to create a article, essay or poem is like releasing endorphins in my brain; a workout for my head. After writing a piece, I feel a sense of euphoria. Whether readers enjoy my writing or not, purchase my books or not, I am fulfilled knowing that I have attempted and is making an attempt to do what I truly love and that is writing. Writing is my passion, since the days of short stories as a teen in my bedroom to now pursuing a freelance career, regardless of what life throws my way, I am living my dream of writing.
