PASSAGE IN TIME
There's a place on a line
That's our passage in time
Hidden under the Moon
Where winds whistle their tune
~*~
People they come
and cross under the Sun
And well springs they run
To the beat of the drum
As walkers pass by
Beckon the night sky
And asleep by the hill
The shepherd lies still
~*~
As the World wakes at dawn
One gathers berries and corn
By a May tree that stands
Bears no thorn on its hands
It's heart is a rock
Holes mark out the clock
And a broken half lies
While the other half dies
~*~
An old man of dust
Whispers reason and trust
And a lady who waits
By the unicorn gate
And an inscription
Of applestone hue
As mists turn to dew
~*~
There's a silver owl that sits
As the washer woman knits
And the stream turns to ice
As the drinker thinks twice
But beside an old stone
There's one that's alone
The call of the hound
Will wake in her ground
The great bear will come
To hold up the Sun
