Poetry: Unkind

by Mary Guimont

My friends and I.

Have become blind.

Our hearts were filled,

with self pity and useless pride.

We forgot how to live and be kind.

Angier and despite.

Filled our soul and our  minds.

We had forgotten how to love

and how to give.

How to laugh.

How to live.

God toke pity on us just the same.

And brought us a miracle.

in the friend in which we made.

She would show.

In the wisdom she had come to know.

That we our brother's keeper.

And if we work against him we are weaker.

That our own unhappiness is our own shame.

That our own self pity is the one to blame.

I am starting to look at life differently.

At the example she has given me.
