Poetry: Unkind

by Mary Guimont

Created on: October 23, 2009   Last Updated: February 11, 2012

My friends and I

Have become blind.

Our hearts were filled,

with self pity and useless pride

We forgot how to live and be kind

Angier and despite

Filled our soul and our  minds

We had forgotten how to love

and how to give

How to laugh

How to live

God toke pity on us just the same

And brought us a miracle

in the friend in which we made

She would show

In the wisdom she had come to know

That we our brother's keeper

And if we work against him we are weaker

That our own unhappiness is our own shame

That self pity is the one to blame

I am starting to look at life differently

At the example she has given me.
