All kids learn in different ways. Some learn with hands on activities, or visually, while others learn by being told verbally. Kids always seem to learn best at play so make learning fun. Teach them their alphabet with fun arts and crafts because they will cover all the ways of learning.
Basic Crafts
Have kids paint pop sickle sticks and glue them together, onto construction paper to make different letters of the alphabet for example, E, V, T, A, F, H, L, M, N T, X, Y, Z. Print letter templates from off the Internet. Then tear a bunch of pieces of construction paper up of all different colors and shapes. Then have kids glue the little pieces on to the letter.
Edible Craft
Have children put frosting onto vanilla wafers. Then arrange them in different ways to make different letters of the alphabet. For extra practice make letters they don't know very well and see if they can guess what they are.
Fine motor skills
To help a child with their motor skills put different letters on the flour using masking tape. Then have them hop, jump, skip, crawl, walk forward and back wards along the letters. For even a little more learning fun have the children say the letter's sound as they go along the letter. This can even be done out side with side walk chalk.
Magazine Fun
Kids love to use scissors. Have kids go through magazines and cut out all of the letter they are studying and glue them to construction paper. For example, if a child is learning the letter, A cut out all the upper and lower case letter A's. Make a collage of things that begin with the letter they are studying. For example, for the letter B cut out pictures of buttons, birds, babies, bugs, bears and any thing else. Then have the child glue them to construction paper.
Letter A
Cut out a green circle of construction paper for a tree top and a brown rectangle for a tree trunk. Then have your child glue it to a sheet of construction paper. When finished let them dip their finger in red paint then on their tree to make apples.
Letter B
Make or get some bubbles and add a few drops of blue food coloring to it. Then take a white piece off construction paper and write the letter B on it. Have the your child blow the bubbles on to the paper
Letter C
Draw a large cloud on blue construction paper. Have your child glue cotton balls on the.
Letter D
Cut the center out of a few small paper plates. Then let your child paint them brown. After they dry have them spread glue over them and sprinkle on confetti or sprinkles.
