For the stylist 2009 winter coats for women; head for Burlington Coat Factory if you have one near you. Most cities do; however, it is worth the drive to another area if you do not have one nearby. Because they sell coats year around; prices are very affordable, and the styles are up-to-date. They purchase many styles in all sizes, so they can sell at much lower costs.

All women need at least one all-weather coat. It is preferable to purchase one with the zip-out lining so that you can wear it during cold weather or hot rainy weather. Years ago you could only find the basic beige; now they are so fashionable, and they come in all colors; for example: purple, navy, green, orange; to name a few. You can do so much with the all-weather coat, for example; add a nice plaid scarf or a basic color with matching gloves. All-weather coats can be dressed up or down; worn with jeans, boots, suits, dresses, etc.If you have an all-weather coat with a lining; you really only need one long coat for the winter.

If you can afford to buy a wool coat; a basic black below-the-knee or longer will last for years. Try to find one with raglan sleeves so you can wear a nice suit underneath or a long sleeve dress. A rounded collar with either single or double-breasted looks very elegant on all shapes and it works well if you are going to work on the subway, bus, etc., or going to the theatre, a dinner, or to church. Add a nice silk scarf around the collar for dressy wear, and you will look very classy. There are also wool and rayon combinations that are sold for much less than the pure wool.

Some people prefer to have more coats than anything in their wardrobe. Because furs are not as popular as they used to be; the synthetic furs are very popular. You can purchase some of them for under $200. They look almost real. Because of the price, you can have several, for example; a jacket to be worn with jeans or dressed up with boots; and a longer one to be worn on colder evenings.

If you really want a life-time coat; buy a cashmere. Make sure it is something that you truly like because they are quite expensive. They do last a lifetime.

You should always have an everyday jacket to be worn for shopping, errands, to the movie, etc. There are many reasonably priced jackets; some with fur collars, that are three-quarters in length and look great with skirts or dresses.

To summarize; make sure you have an all-weather coat no matter where you live. If you can afford it, and you are a "social butterfly," make sure you include in your wardrobe a nice wool black coat for warmth and class. Add a reasonably-priced warm jacket for casual wear to your list. If you purchase basic styles; the coats should carry you through the rain and snow for many years. Then, each year you can add another coat like the fur to your wardrobe, not because you need it; but because you like it.
