Like many people who are used to communicating over a computer, you will probably need a spell checker every now and then. I know that I do on occasion. Fortunately, Speller (Free Spell Checker) is free for download in the iTunes store. Not only will it check your spelling, but it will also tell you what the word means. There is a built-in dictionary (in different versions) which can help you also learn how to use the word correctly.
There are few free apps on the iTunes store that are worth downloading. Even though they are free, they aren't even worth your time. Luckily, Speller is not one of those apps. It does exactly what it is supposed to do, and not only that, but you will find yourself using it over and over again.
One of the best features about Speller is that I can use it to learn new words. If I misspell a word, Speller will give me a list of words which closely match what I typed. So, even if I find the correct word that I wanted to use, I can still look at the rest of the list and see if I cannot identify or define another word. If I do not know what a word means, then I can tap on it and look for its definition, and I have just learned a new word without even making a big effort to do so.
Speller's interface is closely related to the rest of the "type" features on the iPhone or iPod Touch. So, the keypad is exactly the same as the keypad that you use when filling out forms or search boxes. This interface makes Speller look very professionally-made, and looks like it cost a bit of money to run. Speller, however, is free! That is probably the best part about this app.
This app is so easy to use, you will start using it right away. However, I recommend that after downloading the app, you restart your iPhone or iPod. This makes the app run more smoothly. If you do not restart your iPhone or iPod, the app has a greater chance of crashing. That said, Speller is pretty much bug-free, which makes it even more attractive.
All in all, if you make a few spelling mistakes now and then, Speller is the perfect app for you. I know that it has helped me to learn new words and to make sure that I do not make any embarrassing spelling mistakes.
