Christmas 2009: Gift ideas for dad under $10

It's hard to shop for the dad who has everything. It's even harder when you're trying to keep the cost under $10.00. When shopping on a budget for your dad, here are some great gifts to keep in mind.

1. Util-key 6-in-1 tool is brought to you from Think Geek (www.thinkgeek.com/interests/dads/6d98/). It has a self-locking feature that attaches it to any key ring, snaps at 90 degrees of fully extends, it's a semi-serrated knife blade, micro flat Phillips screwdriver, bottle opener, eyeglass screwdriver, and is only $9.99.

2. If dad is a Nascar fan give him an ornament that's reminiscent of his favorite driver. From Dale Earnhardt to Tony Stewart Race Hippie can help you find gifts for Dad! http://www.racehippie.com/seasonal.html

3. Looking for something that you don't need to purchase online? Use your computer and printer to create one of a kind gift for dad. If your dad likes to hunt, create a hunting calendar. Research what animals are "in season" each month and let them be the picture. If your dad likes to fish, select scenic pictures of local lakes or the ocean. Better yet, upload pictures of him showing off his catch of the day!

4. Baking and cooking are always a plus, but instead of a one time treat create a coupon book that dad can use all year long. Make a coupon that he can use for a grilled meal, his favorite cookies, bread, puddings, soups, casserole dish, etc. Who knows your dad better than you?

5. If your dad likes coffee, create a basket for him. A small basket, handful of plastic spoons, melted chocolate chip pieces, one to two cups of ground coffee or coffee beans (if he has his own grinder) and you're all set! Dip the spoons into the melted chocolate and let it dry. Place the coffee into holiday colored cellophane and place it neatly into a basket. If you shop smart you could even splurge for a new coffee cup for him! Want to jazz it up a bit? Use ribbon from your Christmas wrap stash and tie bows onto each spoon.

If you're strapped for cash, but want to create lasting memories, put your heart not your wallet into it. Whether you decide to bake him his favorite treat, give him the coupon book to use year round or create a coffee basket you can't go wrong. Still not sure what you want to give him? Search the two websites listed above or type "gifts under $10" into your search engine.
