Many children love board games and they are a great gift to give. They can stimulate a mind that otherwise would not be stimulated in this fast-paced technologically advanced world. There are lots of games for children and these are a few of my top picks that the children in my life as well as myself has had fun with.
1. Apples to Apples for Kids is a great game to play and has cards designed especially for beginning readers. It helps with both reading skills as well as english skills. It is a great comparison game.
2. Brain Quest is also a great educational board game for children. It hosts a wide variety of trivia questions for children in first to sixth grade. You would be surprised at how difficult some of the questions are when you get to the fifth and sixth grade levels, though.
3. Chutes and Ladders is a wonderful classic board game. It is great for smaller children who can't read because no reading is required.
4. Candyland is also a classic favorite of mine. It was so fun trying to find the lost king of Candyland and it was also one of the first games I remember playing as a child as it did not require me to read.
5. Crocodile Dentist is a game my nephews just love. You choose one of the crocodile's teeth to push down, but if it is his sore tooth he will bite you and you will be out of the game.
6.Guess Who was also a childhood favorite of mine. In this game you use clues to find out who is on the other players card by asking questions. It is kind of a fun twist on 20 questions, I suppose.
7. Operation is another fun game where you try to remove the patient's charlie horse and broken heart without making him buzz. It's always fun to see people jump when he buzzes.
8. Perfection is a game where you race against time and another one of those that is sure to make players jump. You try to fit all pieces in the board before time runs out. If you don't...POP! Everything goes everywhere.
9. You Gotta Be Kidding is the kid's version of the adult game Zobmondo. This is quite a fun game that is sure to have everyone thinking and laughing as they answer some of the craziest Would you rather questions out there.
No matter which game you pick, whether it is educational or just fun, the children are sure to love it!
