FALLING IN LOVE
I checked into the Ritz in the middle of the afternoon and waited for what seemed an eternity. I was meeting someone very special and very important tonight. This was a woman, a lady I had been talking with since December. Here it was March already and I had never seen her face once, nor her mine.
We had stumbled across one another on the Internet, circumstances of which I can talk about later. We had clicked immediately. We both shared similar frustrations and objections with our current partners regarding the use of the Internet. Our partners were using the Internet to meet people of the opposite sex. They would then spend hours on the telephone with them sharing in all sorts of imaginary, fantasy type of sexual talk and activity.
Neither of us cared to play that game. In fact we looked at it as out right cheating. The activities included cards through the mail, telephone calls, pre-arranged meetings on the computer and who knows what else. Through some strange coincidence of fate, our partners actually thrust this woman and myself together in the pretense that we could help each other with our problem. Well, tonight, with God's blessing, we were going to get the help we so desperately needed.
I nervously paced the lobby, looked out the window, and sat down on the settee making sure the pillows were just right. Then I would get up, go to the desk and ask them if anyone had asked for me yet. I continued like this for some time. She was meeting me right after work and she worked until 5:00 but I didn't know how far away she was.
Finally, I went back up to my room and tried to take a little nap. Just as I was dozing off my phone rang. Hello? There is someone here to see you sir. There it is. The moment had arrived. She was here, waiting for me. I was a bundle, a bundle of nerves, anxiety, apprehension and anticipation. Will she like me? Do I look OK? What will she look like? I thought I knew her already, we had talked for months but I still had not seen her. I had one photo but photos are so still-life and I knew this woman was a ball of fire.
I pulled myself together and made my way to the elevator. I entered, pushed the button and took the long trip down four floors. I had to be confident, I had to be brave, she must see only the best of me. Finally the elevator doors opened and I stepped out. I briskly paced directly toward the settee I had been fluffing up all afternoon. Out of the corner of my eye, on my right side I noticed a vision sitting
