Poetry: A cat from another planet

by Jon Coe

Eyes of orange, turning green
how many planets has it been
Whisker twitching eye-pod glow
whisps of furry tufts, in tow

Claws extended, dazzling me
purr button tuned to just a tee
Flick of a tail, tip pointing up
in your power, I runneth over, cup

Take me with you, far away
eyes reflecting, I begin to sway
Fire crackling, hypnotically still
show me where, and what you will

No other cat upon this earth
enters, my heart's warming hearth
The day you found me at your door
my mind melted, and, I wanted more

Take me tonight, to your mother ship
your smile alone, your black painted lip
Curled up, in such a defenseless ball
penetrating through, this human wall
