This is complaint I hear from those who really do not live Wicca. There is a fundamental difference between studying Wicca, reading about Wicca and living Wicca. Being a Wiccan requires action. Living a Wiccan life means you are a participant, not a reader. You only get out as much as you put in.
Think about it. Do you follow celebrity news and gossip? Is there any one particular celebrity that you make an effort to know about? Maybe you are a fan on their Myspace and Facebook and have their blog in your Favorites folder. Over time you come to know the names of their family members, close friends, work associates, etc., but do you really know the person? Is reading about that celebrity the same as having a relationship with them? If you ask that celebrity how deep is your knowledge of them I think you will be chagrined to learn that what they reveal to you is barely the tip of the iceberg of who they really are.
The simplest things are often the most complex. Wicca is no exception. You may learn the basics of Wicca by reading Scott Cunningham's "Wicca: A Guide for the Solitary Practitioner." By the end of the book you will feel at once that you know everything you need to know to get started as well as have absolutely no idea what to do to get started. The basics are easily contained in one paperback, but if you only read the text and not participate in the experience for one full year you will not have a full understanding of how Wicca impacts life. Again, the simplest things are often the most complex. Which brings us full circle, a common motif in Wicca.
Wicca is experienced day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute. By keeping the holy days, following the path of the moon each month and the path of the sun each day, one learns to live in harmony with the tides of nature. You are a part of nature. When you begin to live your life in harmony with the tides you find life flows more easily. It is like floating downstream in a boat as opposed to paddling upstream. You will find that you instinctively know when to nurture a new seed of growth in the darkness of the womb, when to plant it, when to sow.
This day to day awareness is where the true depth of Wicca begins to reveal itself. This isn't something you will learn in a book. Only experience will reveal the secrets to those who have earned the right to see.
