The short-waisted woman should always wear short waisted jackets because this will emphasize the bottom half. Jackets which stop at the top of the waist will draw attention to the legs especially if they are long. Some short-waisted women prefer longer jackets; however, they look better with pants. The shorter jacket looks much dressier with suits or worn over a dress.

Wide belts will also cut the short-waisted woman in half; but there are those who believe the wide belt looks better than the smaller belt; and some believe the belt should be the same color as the top rather than to choose another color. Thin belts that are the same color as the dress works well; however, most dressed have belt loops that have to be changed. So be careful of outfits that include the belt for the regular or long-waisted person.

The short-waisted woman should be careful of the various lines in their clothing. Vertical lines work better as they give the illusion that the person is taller; however, short waisted women who also have large hips should refrain from horizontal lines on the bottom half.

The short-waisted woman is fortunate to be able to wear blouses and sweaters that are low-cut if the woman does not have extra-large breasts. They can also wear chocker-neck jewelry which many people cannot. Anything that brings the attention up rather than down will look nice on the short-waisted woman.

Some people believe the long jackets are flattering to the short-waisted woman; unless the woman is tall; it cuts the woman in half. The shorter jacket to the waist is most appealing.

Women who are short waisted can wear pants that are high-waisted or below the waist.

They look great in dresses that are low-waisted which many figure types cannot wear. They can also wear the dress that flares below the breasts. They can also wear the coat dress because it is a loose dress that looks elegant on almost any type figure.

For buying suits; jackets that are extra long and worn with a mini or knee-length skirt is a plus for the short-waisted woman.

The key to dressing the short-waisted woman is to divide the body into two separate parts as most women with short waists are normal height to tall. If you will dress the top half with lines going toward the face or upward and break the person in half with a wide belt or something low waisted; the bottom half can practically wear any type of clothing unless the hips are extra large.
