Low-fat snacks for busy lifestyles

I know, I know. Everyone is busy these days. You are late for work, you have to do so many errands, you have to keep all your doctor's appointments, not to mention take care of the kids. It is hard to think of a moment we could have to just sit down and relax now. The last thing you have time for is healthy foods to snack on. This does not have to be a problem. There are many low-fat, healthy things to eat that will not cost you time or money.

I love whole-wheat, not refined flour. When we are hungry, we always reach for carbohydrates first. Nothing wrong with this, but you should choose the right kind. Whole-wheat is loaded with fiber, which keeps you feeling fuller longer, and also keeps you regular. You are less likely to gain any weight as well. Some great ideas are rice cakes, Triscuits, Sunchips, and crackers. Some of these come in those 100-calorie snack packs, so you do not have to worry about servings. You just eat and go. I love whole-wheat crackers filled with peanut butter, and I could never resist those Snyder's Pretzels that have peanut butter in them. There is the peanut butter choice, or the cheese choice. Since we are talking about low-fat here, try to choose the peanut butter pretzels. Two guilt-free snacks in one!

Protein-filled snacks are also great because they help you concentrate better. In the morning for breakfast, save some time to make some eggs. It does not matter which way. I like scrambled eggs, but we all have different likes. It has been proven in some studies that eating eggs in the morning helps you lose more weight overall. It has to do with they way your body is able to burn fat. I also have to include nuts. I love almonds, but you could also have walnuts, cashews, or peanuts. Nuts could be high in calories, however, so make sure you have good portion control. When you have a free minute each day, wrap some nuts in plastic or aluminum foil. That way, you just eat, even as you are walking around.

So many of us do not get enough calcium, so yogurt is another great choice. All the containers are perfectly rationed, and all you need is a spoon. A good brand to try is Dannon Light n' Fit yogurt cups. They do have more than 80 calories in each cup, and they have a variety is almost any flavor you like. They also have no more than 11 grams of sugar each.

Now there are no excuses to not eat healthy, even though you are so busy day to day.
