The cost of healthcare alone tells you why you can't afford not to have health insurance. You can spend hundreds of dollars on prescription medications alone. There are many reasons why you can't afford to be without health insurance. Common sense is sometimes not enough to tell us we should invest in a health insurance program when we have the option to.

Here are some of the reasons you can't afford not to have health insurance:

Hospital Bills

Hospital charge a huge fee for their services. It doesn't matter if we think it is right or fair. The basic problem is that they can and do charge more than people can afford out of pocket. This is the main reason that you can't afford to be without health insurance. You could spend the rest of your life paying a hospital bill for a one week stay. That sounds crazy, but it is true. What you pay for in a short hospital stay can cost you more than you paid for your home.

Prescription Medication

Prescription medications are very costly. You can spend hundreds of dollars on one or two prescriptions given to you by your doctor. Your health sometimes has to be put on hold if you don't have health insurance. Prescription medications can cost hundreds of dollars. If you have the opportunity to get health insurance and you don't, it is a foolish act on your part. Get health insurance today if it is available. It might cost you a few extra dollars a week, but the prescription plan alone can save you an amazing amount of money.

Doctor Visits

Doctors visits are very expensive just like any other healthcare issues. A trip to the doctors office can put you back a couple of hundred dollars if you don't have health insurance. You can't afford to be without health insurance if you have to go to the doctor.

You Never Know

People are struck with horrible illnesses every day. If you are not covered by health insurance and you get cancer, for instance, you will not be able to get the treatment you need to get well. This is the biggest reason that you can't afford not to have health insurance. You may get sick with something that is more than one doctor visit and a few prescription medications.

It pays to get health insurance when it is available to you. It costs far more in the long run not to have it. You never know what waits around the corner where health is concerned. You might be fine one day but the next you can be on your knees begging for relief from the illness. Don't take the chance. Get available health insurance as soon as possible. It is worth its weight in gold.
