Now here is an interesting tidbit to start us off with, Halo, Microsofts mainstay in the gaming industry, was originally going to be an RTS for the mac. Yup, before it was snatched up by Bill Gates and his wizardry Steve Jobs was gonna get it on the mac, as an RTS not the FPS it's known as today. It was in the first Halo however that the famous Golden Triangle was devloped, namely, guns-grenades-melee. Halo was also one of the first games to limit you to only carrying two weapons, not having a transdimensional pocket on you that let you carry a bazooka and enough arms to supply a small to medium sized African country for a revolt.and still have room to pack your lunch. Over all Halo: Combat Evolved, which was it's full title, had a very good story line and compelling music that get the player on the edge of their seat. Sure the graphics weren't great, but it came out in 2001, and I just didn't care about graphics back then. So Halo: Combat Evolved gets a 9/10 for it's compelling story and innovative gameplay
And what came after the first Halo game? Well Halo 2 obviously, though that was rhetorical so I hope you didn't talk to your computer screen just then. Now then, Halo 2 a multiplayer classic but I must say it's the rotten egg in the series when it comes to single player campaign. Honestly I can't tell you for the life of me what the hell happened in that game and I played it three times. The only good things that came from Halo 2 were matchmaking and dual wielding. Other then that the novelty of switching from the Chief to the Arbiter soon lost it's charm. Halo 2 gets a 5/10 for pioneering console multiplayer and introducing dual weapons wielding
Now, Halo 3 a veritable Holy Grail of gaming right? Well it depends on how you look at it. Story wise it brought the tale of Master Chief to a close and left the player feeling satisfied and managed to actually bring emotions to a series that up until that point and been more of a gruff shoot 'em up. The emotional moments of the deaths of characters we had come to know and love over the course of the series, (Johnson*sniff*) came as a hard blow but we know they are in a happier place, were the graphics are good and the ammo never runs out right? But I digress. Also it stands to be pointed out that the graphics for Halo 3 are very impressive though there is no innovative gameplay introduced at all. So therefore Halo 3 gets a 9/10, matching the original.
I'm going to just say the Halo Wars.was a mistake. They
