A 'Miswak' stick has been used in the Middle East for eras; it has then spread through the East Asia and parts of Africa. The benefits of the 'Miswak' stick are well-known by all who use them, now even scientists have proven some of the proclaimed benefits.

The 'Miswak' is a very important part of Islam because of the advantages that it carries as it provides mental and physical benefits, also because the Prophet Muhammad advised people to use it. It is a stick that has been taken from a particular tree, one uses their mouth to soften the bristles, from here on, it is just rubbed into the teeth as you would a toothbrush, but without any toothpaste.

A 'Miswak' stick can be taken from a Peelo tree, which is where it will give the best results, although it can also be taken from an Olive tree. However it cannot be taken from a Bamboo tree. Here are the pros of using a 'Miswak' stick.

1. prevent tooth decay

2. combat tooth decay

3. combat bad breath

4. whitens teeth

5. strengthen gums

6. kills gums diseases

7. prevents gum diseases

8. keeps breath smelling fragrant

9. cleans between teeth properly and thoroughly

10. improves taste buds

Research shows many other benefits of the 'Miswak' such as: 'The research identified a total of 19 natural substances found within the miswak that benefit dental health. It contains a number of natural antiseptics that kill harmful microorganisms in the mouth; tannic acids that protect the gums from disease; and aromatic oils that increase salivation. Because of its built-in antiseptics, the miswak needs no cleaning, and because its bristles are parallel to the handle rather than perpendicular, it can reach more easily between the teeth, where a conventional toothbrush often misses.'

The 'Miswak' stick have antibacterial properties which kill mouth bacteria and diseases. Also, the 'Miswak' does not need to be washed or cleaned because of this.

In production, there are 'Miswak' toothpastes which claim to have to same effects as using the actual stick which a lot of people currently buy in all parts of the world as they prefer using it with a toothpaste, instead of using the 'Miswak' stick.

If you have not tried this alternative to brushing, as is used by most of the world, try using a 'Miswak' stick. As it has both mental, physical and spiritual benefits.
