I read a very interesting quote from an unknown author that said, "Greatness is often misunderstood." This statement is true and I think most people can relate to this statement. We all at a very young age in life dream of doing something of significance, doing something good and becoming a positive and successful person. In other words we have an innate desire to do something great. I think this is one of the reasons we emulate super heroes. We identify with their ability to do things that are not ordinary or normal. Our nature is to be more than ordinary we are preoccupied with doing better and doing more in life. Simply put we want to be the best we can be.
Every person has a dream of becoming a great person who can do great things. No one grows up saying they want to be an underachiever, average,a failure or better yet an uneducated drop out, drug addict or quitter. I think this is because we are inately wired with a purpose. No one has to teach us this desire, we are born with it. Therefore our faith tells us we were born for greatness. It is not a special knowledge, it is an intrinsic part of who we are as a person. This is something that we think about subconsciously and there is some force, energy a creator that compels us to strive for a better existence, to be a better person, to be a spiritual person, to make a difference, an impact and to do something of lasting value.
Greatness is misunderstood because we associate it with something you do or the title we hold or the money we make and we down play the fact it is who we are. As we look around us we see greatness; the vast sky, the ocean, the air we breathe, the books we read, beautiful architecture greatness is every where. Everything created by our creator is great and the things we create have the potential to be great because the creator has placed the potential for greatness inside each of us.
A few definitions of greatness are a person who has achieved importance or distinction; of extraordinary powers; having unusual merit; very admirable, notable; remarkable; exceptionally outstanding, unusual or considerable in degree, power, intensity. These words give a picture of how others see you but more importantly how you see yourself. If you don't see yourself as being great you will never accomplish anything great and others will not see you as great. Individuals who are great inspire others to be great.
Greatness boils down to maximizing
