Short Stories: Consequences
Once upon a time in the Windy City, better known as Chicago, Illinois, lived a boy named Maurice Hatch. Maurice was 16 going on 17 years old; he lived with his grandparents and his three brothers. Maurice and his siblings Marcus, Marquiece, and Michael were cold-hearted individuals and were in trouble with the law more than half of a dozen times; every since the death of their parents back in 1994. They were raised in Chicago's South side and they were all affiliated with the Gangster Disciples, one of the ruthless gangs in Chicago.
Maurice was told all his life that he and his brothers would never be anything even by his own grandparents. Maurice and his brothers were making at least five thousand dollars a night from distributing cocaine in their community. Two months later on April 6, 2008, Marcus and Michael; Maurice's brothers were convicted and sent to prison for four years, for drug trafficking, possession of cocaine, possession of marijuana, and carrying a handgun. Since the incarceration of his two oldest brothers, it was just him and his twin brother Marquiece left alone on the mean streets of the Windy City.
Four months after the incarceration of they're brothers; Maurice and Marquiece were bringing in two times the money that they were all bringing in a night and the twins were now taking the dope game serious. Things were getting so out of hand that Maurice and his brother were taking lives to get their respect or take what's theirs; like their older brothers did. On June 12, 2008 Marquiece and some of his friends went on a killing spree involving their rivals the Vice Lords; who hung out on the West side of Chicago. Marquiece didn't get charged with the shooting but two weeks later he was shot four times and then sent to jail for eighteen months because of a warrant he had for drug possession. So now it was just Maurice on these Chicago streets alone besides his friends that he can barely trust.
Maurice kept the flow going making this dirty money. As two months past by Maurice realized that the consequences of the drug game were catching up with him and his brothers. Maurice was shot at one night standing on a gang corner trying to get the rest of his product off and was hit once by a nine millimeter and immediately rushed to the hospital. While he was in the hospital life was flashing before his eyes. When he got out of the hospital he thought he could just leave the dope game and live a normal life but the same Vice Lords Marquiece shot had tracked down Maurice and shot him to death two blocks from his home.
I guess this story is about the consequences of the dope game which is dead or in jail.
