Schindler's List is a tale about a man who did just that. Oskar Schindler is a businessman and a member of the Nazi party who spends his money in things of picayune value - cars, merry-making and women. Until one day he hires a thousand number of Jews to work for his ammunition and metal works factory. However, the time came that these Jews should be relocated from Krakow as they see them unfit to stay in the land of the pure-blooded Germans. Many were shot dead if there is a hint of any restraint from the Jews, or when the Germans just feel like killing them. Some were massacred and some were forced inside the gas chamber in Auschwitz to die. Seeing this cruelty, Schindler decided to retrieve his workers from the concentration camp. One thousand one hundred of which were taken out by him using his money to bribe German officials so to release the Jews. Schindler kept them from the factory, working while given food and shelter by Schindler himself, for if they are to go out of the gates, the Jews will be murdered. After seven months, the war ended and the Jews were liberated. Schindler, however, was left with no possession. Despite his bankruptcy, Schindler thought that he should have not wasted all his money and saved 10 more people instead. Schindler fled after the Jew's independence. At present, the Jews who survived the Holocaust and their descendants are called Schindler Jews.

Schindler's List is a movie about unconditional heroism. Many people today do acts of kindness for something in return. Rarely could one find a man today who could sacrifice his multi-million fortune for people who do not even belong to his race. The movie also tries to show that even the worst of all men could be the best if he chooses to respond what his conscience tells him, and that even criminals could turn out to be heroes in the end. However, there are articles saying that Schindler only took the Jews back because his business was on the verge of bankruptcy. Still, though, whatever his intentions were, he became the messiah of the Jews against the cruel Germans.

The movie directed by Steven Spielberg showed a clear picture of blood and morbidity. But despite of the harshness depicted by the picture, Schindler's List never failed to let its viewers see the brutal effects of racism and closed-mindedness.
