When I read this title I thought it was an odd title for children crafts, not many people want to scare their kids let alone do it with a craft. Thinking of the theme Halloween and the scary things that go with that category like black cats, Jack o Lanterns, and witches. I came up some crafts that involve bats and ghosts. These will not scare your kids but do fall in the scary category of Halloween themes.
For the first one is a clip on bat.
You will need a clothes pin, black construction paper, a magnet, a glue stick and googly eyes or white pencil crayon.
First cut out a bat from a template or free hand from the black construction paper. Glue a magnet to the back of the clothes pin, then glue the bat to the front of the clothes pin, adding the eyes with the white pencil crayons or glue on googly eyes. You can stick it on the fridge to hold your to do list or child's' homework assignments.
The next one is very easy it is a Ghost with a special treat inside.
You will need a 2 inch pipe cleaner, a candy sucker, and a tissue or white tissue paper.
Drape the tissue over the sucker, where the sucker and stick meet, pinch the tissue around the stick and wrap the pipe cleaner around to hold it in place, add some eyes and there you go a ghost!
I found this one on Familyfun.com Ghost Prints.
You will need black construction paper and white tempura paint.
Fold your paper in the middle lengthwise, open it up to reveal the crease, drizzle some paint in the crease, fold the paper back together and press down the crease. Open the paper again and reveal the ghost that appeared. You can add eyes to make your ghost even spookier.
Try this technique with orange paper and black paint to have bats appear on the paper.
There are lots of scary crafts that can been made with your kids that will not scare them but they will have a blast making them. They can always set them up to scare other people. Why not take some other scary Halloween themes and make some crafts. You can try these with witches, spiders, and monsters. The children will have fun entertaining themselves with some fun scary crafts.
